It is quite clear that the COVID-19 pandemic has had quite an impact on the world aviation industry, seeing that there have been many travel restrictions across the globe following the virus outbreak. Also, there’s been a massive recession in air travel demands and passenger numbers in current times. Travel cancellations within this period because of lockdown orders from different governments have also added to the recession. Of course, all these occurrences point to one obvious result, which is that the demand for air personnel, including pilots will drop drastically within this period. As such more pilots will have less to do as it regards their flying duties.
Is There Still A Personnel Shortage With Many Pilots Now Losing Work?
With the effect of Coronavirus on the aviation industry, many pilots have temporally lost their jobs. This means that more pilots will be available to adequately carter to flight demands and needs within this time, ultimately solving the pilot shortage challenge in the industry momentarily. However, it is hard to say if this will continue to be the case even after the pandemic has been contained.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected almost every sector of human endeavors, crippling industries, and businesses. Industry forecast shows; this will continue to be the case until something drastic changes to cut the infection rate.
